Head of Accounting & Controlling

With approximately 480 employees, KLK Kolb is one of the leading alkoxylation companies in Europe and offers a wide range of surfactants, chemical specialties, paper process chemicals and customer-specific products for various industries. Head of Accounting & Controlling

In this role you will be directly reporting to the CFO KLK Kolb Group and be responsible for further strengthening the Accounting and Controlling function within our organization.

Job description

• Responsible for leading the Accounting & Controlling departments with two direct and nine indirect reports
• Is responsible for making sure that the finances of the KLK Kolb Group companies are accurate and in line with the goals, policies, expectations and has day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling financial activities of the Group. The remit includes direct responsibility for accounting, controlling, cash planning and monitoring, forecasting, planning, reporting, tax, risk management, internal control system (IKS) and insurances
• Mentoring and development of the team; management of task allocation, system training and performance evaluation, also the development of effective and efficient team dynamics
• Managing the development of continuous assessment of short- and long-term financial goals and ensuring the Finance Group's credibility by prompt and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends, forecasts and reports
• Developing and maintaining good relations with the organisation in order to identify requirements and to investigate the entire range of business solutions, as well as advising management and organisation on the financial impact of business activities
• Managing the processes for financial forecasts, budgets, consolidation and reporting to KLK in Malaysia on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Ensuring that adequate internal controls are in place and ensuring compliance with IFRS and the applicable Federal, state and local regulatory laws and provisions for financial and tax reporting
• Assessing the departments and submitting proposals for improvement and automation processes and for boosting work efficiency
• Participating in and/or leading projects

Desired skills and experience

• A higher education in finance and accounting (e.g., Master Accounting and Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Swiss Chartered Expert in Financial and Managerial Accounting and Reporting or
equivalent qualification)
• At least 10 years in a similar leadership and senior management position like Director of Finance, Head of Finance or related role in an international structure and industrial environment with experience in the chemical industry
• At least 5 years of management experience of international cross location teams
• Strong knowledge in areas of accounting and processes, business administration, ICS, tax and accounting standards
• Proven experience and knowledge of all aspects of the financial statements and closing process on KLK Kolb Group level based on IFRS
• At ease with IT programs, digitalisation tools and excellent know-how of MS Office and SAP -(ERP 6.0) with practical experience from application management or consulting and in-depth module knowledge
FI/CO, MM, SD, PP and PM, as well as Advanced command of digital communication, collaboration and documentation tools
• Entrepreneurial thinking and acting as well as high result and goal orientation
• Able to work at different level depending on the situation - strategic and operational
• Interested in learning new things and further developing existing ones
• To a high degree independent, autodidact and a reliable person
• Curious, versatile and very flexible regarding tasks and areas of responsibility
