CO2 certificate

Kolb was recently awarded the certificate for active CO2 reduction by the Swiss Energy Agency for teh Economy (EnAW, Energy Agency for the Economy).

Kolb is committed to sustainable climate protection by choice and conviction, which is why we agreed on a CO2 reduction target with the Swiss Federal Government. This objective is monitored and audited by the Swiss Energy Agency (EnAW) and certified accordingly. The EnAW is the economy's platform for reducing CO2 emissions and increasing energy efficiency. The Agency brings together groups from different sectors of the economy, all committed to achieving a target jointly negotiated with the Federal Government.

Concrete measures
To achieve these targets, Kolb has implemented a range of measures at its Swiss production site in recent years:

- Re-use of heat from exothermic reactions to heat buildings and storage tanks
- Development of processes with a better energy balance
- Investments into more efficient isolation, pumps and plant infrastructure
- Switch from oil to natural gas

Through these measures Kolb was able to significantly reduce CO2 emissions. Also in the future we will do our best to reduce our energy consumption and so make a contribution to a sustainable handling of natural resources.

We also advocate the responsible use of energy resources in our plant in the Netherlands. In our new production plant we installed a special heat recovery system which helped to reduce the CO2 output significantly already in the first year of operation. The plant has gained a Dutch energy award.
