Guidelines for EH&S

The health and safety of our employees, neighbours, visitors, customers and consumers, as well as the protection of the environment are primary concerns that we consistently pursue throughout the company. We take environment, health and safety (EH&S) into account in all business decisions and company activities. In so doing, we are committed to the following basic principles:

Responsibility

We develop our employees' sense of responsibility for EH&S with targeted information and training. The necessary resources are placed at their disposal. We expect our employees to show a high level of active support and a healthy dose of personal responsibility.

Research and Development

Nonionic surfactants are synthesised on a laboratory scale and characterised in terms of their structure and mechanism of action; this is the basis for a range of innovative products and solutions. Successful developments are then transferred into production.
In Research and Development we concentrate on prioritising the use of sustainable raw materials and finding energetically favourable reaction channels; this means that we make a significant contribution to technological development with regard to sustainability.

Continuous Improvement and Risk Reduction

We reduce the impact on the environment by optimising the consumption of raw materials and energies. We assess the effects of our products, procedures and technologies on safety, the environment and health in an ongoing HSE review process with the objective of achieving continuous optimisation. We try to eliminate any incidents to a great extent with the help of risk analyses.

Dealing with Incidents

We restrict the impact of incidents preventatively with structural, technical and organisational measures. We tackle any potential incidents with internal and external emergency organisations. We prepare our-selves for any conceivable scenarios by undertaking regular practice sessions together with the emergency organisations. By documenting and assessing incidents, this can minimise any repetition of an identical or similar occurrence.

Inspection and Records

We define key parameters relating to EH&S. Regular inspections, records and assessments form the basis for the control of the continuous improvements in our EH&S process.

Information and Communication

We foster open communication with our employees, neighbours, the public, our customers, the authorities and other interested parties. We guide our customers in terms of the safe handling, storage, environmental compatibility and ecological use of our products. The interests of our employees, neighbours, the authorities and the public in our EH&S performance are of paramount importance to us.

Contractual Partners and Suppliers

We support our suppliers and contractual partners in their efforts to improve their EH&S policies.

Compliance with Laws and Safety at Work

We comply with the statutory requirements and official regulations relating to environment, health and safety.

Cooperation

We actively participate in committees and working groups relating to EH&S.
